MTCR Electric Cable Drum

Overview: The MTCR electric cable drum is mainly used for the equipment that supplies power to mobile equipment without simultaneous winding or releasing of cables. It contains a collector ring. One end of the cable is fixed, and the other end is wound and released with the drum. The cables can be released by starting the motor and then connected to electric equipment when power is needed and wound by starting the motor when power is not needed.

Working principle of cable drum:

The motor of the cable drum transmits power to the reducer. After reduction, the enlarged torque passes the torque limiter for torque output adjustment. The adjusted output torque then passes the sprocket chain and gets transmitted to the drum, causing the drum to rotate and collect/release the cable. Due to the existence of the torque limiter, when the load exceeds the maximum torque that the drum can output, the torque limiter will slip and protect the cable from being damaged from excess tension.

1. Cable release: Press the "Release cable" button. The motor will start to operate and the motor brake will turn on, drive the reducer, the torque limiter and the sprocket chain system, drive the drum to rotate, and synchronously release the cable out of the drum.

2. Cable winding: Press the "Collect cable" button. The motor will start to operate and the motor brake will turn on, drive the reducer, the torque limiter and the sprocket chain system, drive the drum to rotate, and synchronously collect the cable onto the drum.

3. During shutdown: Since the motor has a brake capable of locking at power loss, it will have enough friction torque during power loss so that the cable will not slip off the reel under the action of gravity or vibration.

Note: During cable collection, press the "Collect cable" button. In case that the torque limiter slips, immediately stop cable collection (long-time slipping will cause the friction disc of the torque limiter to rapidly wear off) since it indicates that the cable is dragging a weight over its tolerable tension and requires manual auxiliary cable collection. During cable release, it is required to immediately release the cable and untangle it. Or the cable might be damaged.
