JT Spring-driven Cable Drum

Overview: JT spring-driven cable drums are mechanical devices that realize automatic winding and cable release with volute spring as the power. They are applicable to lifting electromagnet, slab tong, hydraulic grab and other slings, short-stroke gantry cranes and electric flat cars. They are divided into compact built-in slip ring type products with a nice exterior and slip ring type externally-mounted and cantilever type products that are easy to maintain, meeting different site conditions for the users.

Structural characteristics of spring-driven cable drum:

1. It adopts volute spring as the power source and is able to rotate the drum for winding and cable release without consuming any power on its own, enabling automatic and flexible movement and reliable operation.

2. It adopts a collector slip ring-carbon brush holder structure to transmit electric energy, realizing a continuous and steady supply of power.

3. It has a reversible mechanism that allows the drum to rotate in both directions. The volute spring transmits power in a unidirectional way and will not break due to the reversion.

Working principle of spring-driven cable drum:

1. Cable release: When moving electric equipment (e.g. lifting electromagnet, slab tong, electric flat car, etc.), the cable winding on the drum will be released under the action of gravity or traction force. Meanwhile, the originally loose volute spring will start to wind up to reserve energy for cable winding.

2. Cable winding: When the electric equipment returns, the effects of gravity or traction force will be removed. At the same time, the volute spring starts to release energy and drive the drum to make the cable wind up on the drum at a corresponding speed.
